The story behind the product and company

FullPro at the 2005 SHOT Show I founded FullPro to commercialize what is now known as SoundVision Eye Protection. In high school I (sometimes) wore ear and eye protection while mowing lawns, but I didn't like how the arms of the safety glasses broke the earmuff seals.  I experienced the same problem during carpentry projects and while shooting firearms with friends. While training for a pilot’s license, I once again experienced the problem – this time the arms of my sunglasses were breaking the seals of my aviation headset. Some pilot-friends of mine saw a SoundVision prototype which I had developed and encouraged me to apply for a patent. I did, the patent issued a few years (!) later, and I began working on nights and weekends to create a design that could be manufactured. I continued this work when I went to business school and received valuable help from several friends and classmates (Thank you David Clark, Gabriel Post, Wenda Thompson, and Ilya Levtov!). Upon graduation, I worked full-time to arrange economically viable manufacturing, to get the product through rigorous third-party testing (ANSI Z87.1+), and to market the product. The product is now mature, and I once again work on FullPro on nights and weekends. At one point I was negotiating a licensing agreement with a large manufacturer which had expressed interest in the product, but we couldn't agree to terms so I elected to keep operating FullPro as a stand-alone business. Thank you for your interest. - Erik Mikysa
